adele awarded best original song for skyfall at oscar awards

The 24-year-old singer struggled to hold back tears as she accepted
the award with her co-writer Paul Epworth on Sunday night February 24,
2013.

The Grammy winner, who sang the James Bond theme at the prestigious
ceremony earlier in the evening during a special tribute to the
British spy franchise, marking her first live performance since giving
birth to her son Angelo James in October, said: 'Thank you so much.

Dressed in a floor-length, embellished black Jenny Packham gown, Adele
also paid tribute to her management team.

She then became emotional and quickly thanked her charity worker beau
Simon Konecki, who was her date for the evening and gave her a quick
kiss after her name was announced.

She said: 'And my man, I love you baby.'

Before leaving the stage, the outspoken singer gestured at the
star-studded crowd and shouted: '

You're all amazing as well.'

Other nominees in the category included 'Before My Time' from 'Chasing
Ice', 'Everybody Needs A Best Friend

' from 'Ted', written by the Oscars host Seth MacFarlane, 'Pi's
Lullaby' from 'Life of Pi' and '

Suddenly' from 'Les Miserable'.

Before performing at the event, Adele reportedly underwent special
Chinese Qi Gong breathing therapy to help calm her nerves after it was
recommended by fellow singer

Robbie Williams' wife

Ayda Field.

A source previously said: 'Adele has suffered with terrible stage
fright since she was 16, but now it's worse than ever

.

'She knows all eyes are on her after almost a year out of the
spotlight, so she needed something to help her with it

.

'Ayda was the first person to tell Adele about Belly Breathing, and
how it had helped Robbie overcome his performing anxiety in recent
years
