This is very unlike me, but I got into a discussion with a friend yesterday and this topic came up and I felt like sharing it with our lovely and esteemed NFC forumites.
It baffles me that we, especially Nigerians, have now become masters of the religion (Christianity) introduced to us by the Europeans many years ago. Do we say 'it is the joy of a father to see his child prosper more than him'?
No doubt, some parts of the Bible have been greatly twisted by our religious leaders to suit their teachings. No wonder we have different doctrines and confusion in Christianity. Many gullible worshippers are now confused as to what to do but because of the fear of 'touch not my anointed', they have become what late Fela called as 'zombies'.
Like also in the song of late Fela, 'Pope (referring also to Pastors) dey for Rome', they enjoy fat lifestyles, while their congregation wallop in thin lifestyles.
You now hear 'sow a seed' in churches nowadays. Also, you are threatened to bring your tithes to church, failure to so will amount to giving room for the Devil to devour the victim.
But in Deuteronomy 14:22-23, the Bible says, "be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God." But is this being preached today by our Nigerian pastors? Your answer is as good as mine.
In your own view, which part (s) of the Holy Bible has/have been mostly twisted by our Nigerian pastors?
