Ghana’s acclaimed fastest rapper and first to win a BET award, Sarkodie has advised R2Bees to work extra hard to ensure that they continue to win more awards in future.
Sarkodie, who is a close ally of the Tema duo, after his performance at the 14th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on May 18, took to his twitter page to congratulate R2Bees and give a brotherly advice concerning the future of the group.
“We always hustle our way tru..we never believed in hype… best advice- if da referee is unfair win by knock awt.. God bless @r2bees,” the ‘You Go Kill Me’ hit maker posted on his Twitter page.
It is unclear to Sarkodie’s fans why a portion of the tweet had ‘if da referee is unfair win by knock awt.. God bless @r2bees’ in it.
A year ago, event organisers Charter House and their Board dropped R2Bees’ ‘Ajiee’ song from all of their categories at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs). Even though the group was highly disappointed, they worked hard to sweep five awards at this year’s VGMAs.
A source at Charter House revealed to NEWS ONE that R2Bees were dropped last year because some of the executives at the organisation felt ‘Ajiee’ had some profanity in it. Therefore it was not fit to get a nomination.
R2Bees, who have been termed the hottest music group in Ghana currently, finished shooting their ‘Slow Down’ video which featured Nigerian rising star Wizkid on Wednesday.
Perhaps it is the experience from the part of Sarkodie which pushed him to advise R2Bees since he had on two occasions won the Artiste of the Year category.
The Chief Executive of Sark Collections won the Artiste of the Year, at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
